The purple gradient was never a design decision.

Deft is a skill system for Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and Windsurf. It makes your agent interview you, commit to one idea, and pass 62 checks before it ships a page.

MIT. Plain Markdown. Lives in a folder.

Your agent isn't lazy. It's guessing.

It doesn't know what you sell, who buys it, or what they compare you to. So it ships the statistical average: the gradient, the three cards, the testimonial nobody said.

  1. Fits any product."Unlock your potential" works for a bank, a bakery and a bug tracker.
  2. Nobody chose it.Purple into blue is what you get when no one picks a color.
  1. Fills a grid.Three equal cards, three icons, zero points made.
  2. Can't be checked."Trusted by thousands" names no one.
Specimen. A parody, not a real product.

Nothing on it is wrong. Nothing on it is yours.

This page is the receipt.

Deft built it. Here's the paper trail.

01

The brief

Audience: a developer or founder who asked AI for a landing page and got the purple-gradient one.

Core promise: a page that could only belong to your product.

02

The headlines that lost

  • Your agent has built this landing page before. For everyone. Won round one. Retired in the redesign.
  • Every AI landing page is the same page. Yours doesn't have to be.
  • Your agent designs from the average. Deft makes it ask first.

03

The concept

One Idea: the page starts as slop, and you inspect your way to the real one.

#f4f6f8#14181d#00a3d9

Version one was a brutalist pile of paper. The owner called it not unique enough, so it went back to concept.

04

The preflight log

All 62 checks ran in order. Two failed and were fixed on the spot: a border plus a wide shadow on the hero slip (V-08) and a sideways overflow on phones (R-04). Four judgment calls went to the owner.

Three gates. Your agent can't skip one.

  1. Ask

Five questions before a line of code: what you sell, who it's for, where visitors come from, why you. The answers become a brief you sign off.

  2. Commit

One visual direction. One idea a competitor couldn't steal. No approved concept, no code.

  3. Check

62 numbered checks. Failures get fixed automatically. Judgment calls come back to you.

In a hurry? Say "skip the questions." It states its assumptions, then builds.

62 checks between your agent and your users.

Zero em dashes.
Not one. The most cited tell of AI copy is gone, title tag and alt text included.
Exact colors.
One of six named directions, real hex values. An unmodified Tailwind ramp fails V-25.
Nothing invented.
No fake quotes, logos or numbers. Thin proof means a smaller claim.
The Template Test.
Put a competitor's logo on it. If it still works, it goes back to concept. V-21.

Before you star.

Isn't this just a long prompt?
A prompt asks. Deft gates: stages it can't skip, a concept you approve, 62 checks the page must pass.
Does it work with my agent?
If it reads skills. Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Windsurf and 70+ others do.
Will the interview slow me down?
Five questions, one or two at a time. Or say "skip the questions" and correct its assumptions.
What does it build in?
Whatever your project already uses. Deft decides what the page says and how it looks.
Can I still have a purple gradient?
Yes. Your agent will note the trade-off once, sigh quietly, and build it.
How do I uninstall it?
npx skills remove deft, or delete the folder.

Ship a page with a reason to exist.

Install it. Ask your agent for a landing page. The interview starts on its own.
